Story

Churchyard dates to at least the 7th century. Church funded by Reverend Canon John Le Mesurier at cost of 8000 pounds. During WWII used as store by occupying German forces; machine gun mounted in belfry; German graffiti still visible on stonework. Bells removed during German occupation, four taken to Cherbourg. Church restored and rededicated 11 June 1953.

Alderney Parish Church, also known as St Anne's Church and 'The Cathedral of the Channel Islands', is an Anglican place of worship serving Alderney. Designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in a cruciform style using local granite with Caen stone dressings, it was consecrated in 1850 and seats up to 650. The church holds a full peal of 12 bells and broadcasts Sunday services on Quay FM. During WWII it was used as a store by German forces and was restored and rededicated in 1953. —
