Founded by Sir Derrick Bailey in 1968 after British United Airways withdrew from the Alderney-Guernsey route. Originally operated Britten-Norman Islanders. First airline in the world to ban smoking (1977). Nationalised by States of Guernsey in 2003. Second oldest established airline in Britain after Loganair.

Aurigny Air Services is the flag carrier airline of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, wholly owned by the States of Guernsey through Cabernet Ltd. Founded in 1968 by Sir Derrick Bailey and based at Guernsey Airport, the airline operates scheduled passenger and freight services to destinations across the UK, France, Ireland, and inter-island routes to Alderney and Jersey. Services also include charter flights and ground handling for other airlines. Its fleet comprises ATR 72-600 aircraft and a damp-leased DHC-6 Twin Otter. —
