Founded early 1970s by Dave Moss (then 2nd Dan). Steve Goubert, Dave Ferbrache, and Nigel Du Jardin joined on the same day in 1974. Originally a Shukokai club under Master Chojiro Tani. Trained across Guernsey, France (Saint-Malo, Dinan, Chartres), Alderney, and Herm. When Moss relocated to Jersey around 1977, the club continued independently. Later transitioned to Kofukan style under Sensei Tomiyama.
Guernsey Kofukan Karate Club is a traditional karate club founded in the early 1970s, affiliated with Kofukan International. Originally a Shukokai club, it later transitioned to Kofukan style under Sensei Tomiyama. Classes run Monday evenings in St Pierre du Bois and Thursday evenings at St Mary's Church Hall, L'Islet, welcoming cadets (under 16) and seniors (16+). Grading examinations and open courses are also offered. —
