Founded on Valentine's Day 1873 at a meeting of the Societe Guernesiaise. At current St Andrews site since 1929. Survived German Occupation in WWII. One of the oldest registered charities in Guernsey (charity number 003). Has housed lion cubs and capuchin monkeys in quarantine. Featured on BBC Countryfile.
