The RGLI was formed from the Royal Guernsey Militia in 1916 to serve in WWI. Fought at Battle of Cambrai (Masnieres, 30 November 1917) and Battle of Lys where the regiment was virtually wiped out. The charity preserves their memory and maintains memorials in Masnieres and St Peter Port.
Royal Guernsey Light Infantry LBG is a registered charity (CH543, est. 2017) dedicated to preserving the memory of the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry regiment, formed in 1916 and distinguished at the Battle of Cambrai. Working across three pillars — Commemoration, History & Education, and Cultural Diplomacy — the charity runs student exchanges, coordinates the St Peter Port–Masniérès twinning, maintains memorials, and holds regimental events. Entirely volunteer-run, with patronage from the Lieutenant-Governor and Bailiff of Guernsey. —
