Grew out of Girls Night in Guernsey, a boycott initiative started on 19 November 2021 in solidarity with UK-wide Girls Night In boycotts against sexual assault, harassment, and drink spiking in the night-time economy. The Instagram campaign attracted over 1,300 followers and led to formal charity registration at the suggestion of the Committee for Home Affairs.
SafetyNet Guernsey is a registered charity (CH1035) founded in 2023, dedicated to making Guernsey's night-time economy safer. It certifies partner venues through its Safe Place Project, trains bar and venue staff, and runs awareness campaigns on sexual assault, harassment, and drink spiking. Founded by Poppy Murray and growing out of the Girls Night In Guernsey movement, it works with partners including Guernsey Police, the Committee for Home Affairs, and the Sexual Assault Referral Centre. —
