Shell Beach was formerly known as Le Mielle; the sand is formed from tiny shell fragments deposited by the Gulf Stream

Shell Beach Café is a seasonal licensed beach café on Herm Island, operated by Herm Island. Open April to September, it serves café food including sandwiches, baguettes, salads, pastries, ice cream, and milkshakes, with gluten-free options. Seating is outdoors on picnic benches with deckchair hire available. Private evening events for up to 72 guests can be arranged.

Seasonal April–September. Apr 17–Jun 30: 10am–4pm daily (excl Mondays), breakfast 10–12, lunch 12–4. Jul 1–Aug 31: 9am–5pm daily, breakfast 9–12, lunch 12–4. September: 10am–4pm daily. Closes September 30. Sunday evening high tides May–Aug: open until 8:30pm.
