Building originally constructed in the 1930s as the Sark Art Gallery for the Sark Art Group. Artist Mervyn Peake lived and worked in the building. Purchased by Sam Langford (retired Post Master General of Birmingham) and family on 1 July 1967 from Mr and Mrs Allen. Rosemary Aldridge became Sub Postmistress. Caroline and Tim Langford took over in January 1996. Has a Mervyn Peake Blue Plaque and an Olympic gold post box.

The Gallery Stores & Post Office is a family-run independent general store and sub-post office on The Avenue in Sark, established in 1967. It stocks gifts, kitchen and household items, toys, books, DIY supplies, tools, paint, seeds, and garden and hardware goods, and provides post office and NatWest banking services. The building was originally the Sark Art Gallery and is associated with artist Mervyn Peake, commemorated by a Blue Plaque. It also features an Olympic gold post box. —
