St Martin·Shop
The Guernsey copper milk can has over 1000 years of history, dating back to 980 AD when cattle were brought from Normandy. Guernsey's wedding gift to Queen Elizabeth II comprised a set of six cans. The Tudor Barn workshop was built in 1587 by John Andros.
Guernsey Cans (Coppersmiths) is a traditional coppersmith workshop and shop at The Tudor Barn, Sausmarez Manor, St Martin, operated by Trevor Rogers-Davis — believed to be the last working coppersmith making traditional Guernsey copper milk cans. The shop produces hand-made and machine-made cans in 15 sizes, copper tankards and measures, copper and hematite jewellery, and offers custom metalwork, renovation, and polishing services. Materials include copper, brass, bronze, tin, and silver, worked using tools up to 200 years old. —
