Story

Founded by Dorothy C Hurrell (Langlois) during the German occupation of Guernsey. Passed through various teachers before becoming The Dance Academy and later The Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts. Previously based at Le Foulon and The Carlton Hotel before moving to current purpose-built studio in 2008.

The Academy of Dance and Theatre Arts (ADTA) is Guernsey's longest-running dance school, founded during the German occupation of the 1940s by Dorothy C Hurrell. Based in Vale at the Guernsey Indoor Bowling Centre, it teaches approximately 200 pupils aged 2.5–18. The school offers Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre Dance, Classical Greek, Contemporary Dance, and Acrobatic Arts, holding ISTD, iD-Contemporary, and Acrobatic Arts accreditation. Led by Principal Rhianna King, pupils compete at national festivals and sit examinations twice yearly.
