Story

Building is the Old St Anne's Public School, built in 1790 by Governor Jean Le Mesurier. The Alderney Society was founded in 1966 in the basement of the Island Hall. The States of Alderney offered the old school building at peppercorn rent. Volunteers renovated it and the museum formally opened to the public in 1970.

Alderney Museum is a charitable museum operated by The Alderney Society from the Old St Anne's Public School on High Street, St Anne. Founded in 1966 and open to the public since 1970, it holds over 18,000 items across five gallery spaces covering Alderney's history from prehistoric times through the Second World War. The museum is fully MLA-accredited and won the 1999 Museums and Galleries Gulbenkian Award.
