First proposed in 1966, States approved £2.5m plans circa 1970, construction delayed when British government requisitioned steel for oil rigs, opened 11 December 1976 by Bailiff Sir John Loveridge with a performance of Fiddler on the Roof. Hosted 4th Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships within three months of opening.

Beau Séjour Leisure Centre is a government-operated leisure facility in St Peter Port, managed by the States of Guernsey's Committee for Education, Sport & Culture. Opened in 1976, it offers a 25m 6-lane swimming pool, gym with 70+ pieces of equipment, 60+ weekly fitness classes, sports hall, squash courts, floodlit tennis and netball courts, football pitches, skate park, soft-play area, Guernsey's main theatre, a 400-seat cinema (Beau Cinema), café, and venue hire. —
