Story

No. 79 was a former ICI explosives store, later acquired by the Guernsey Press for firework storage, then gifted to the National Trust. Creve Coeur was leased to the States of Guernsey for landfill operations for approximately 30 years; the landfill closed in 1998. The land is being returned to the Trust as a nature reserve, in partnership with the Smile for Georgie Foundation.

Creve Coeur and No. 79 is a heritage site and emerging nature reserve on the Chouet peninsula in Vale, managed by the National Trust of Guernsey. No. 79 was a former ICI explosives store gifted to the Trust; Creve Coeur was a landfill until 1998, now being restored in partnership with the Smile for Georgie Foundation. The site is free to visit, with about a mile of easy walking paths, panoramic sea views of Alderney and Lihou, geocaching, and ground nesting birds. —
