Story

Founded by Nigel Clarke who was inspired by Chinese philosopher Kuan Tzu's proverb about seeds, trees and education at a 'Growing Schools' conference in Birmingham in 2008. Nigel is a Director of SAFE Gardening and has worked with American allergy researcher Tom Ogren since 2009.

Green Legacy Guernsey is a not-for-profit charitable conservation and education project founded in 2007 by Nigel Clarke, operating from Queux Plant Centre in the Castel. It supplies free native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers to parishes for public planting, delivers Learning Outside the Classroom school workshops, and promotes allergy-friendly planting through the SAFE Gardening programme using the OPALS scale. Accredited with the LOtC Quality Badge, it has completed large-scale planting projects across Guernsey and received multiple Insurance Corporation conservation awards. —
