Shane Le Page began metal detecting in 2005. In 2009 he and Mike Newman established Guernsey Heritage Keepers to keep recorded logs of their finds. Since 2014 the organisation has been headed solely by Le Page. As of 2019 approximately 75-80 people had approached them for help, with about 60 reunited with lost jewellery.

Guernsey Heritage Keepers is a non-profit metal detecting organisation founded in 2009 by Shane Le Page and Mike Newman. Licensed by the Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management Services (ACLMS), the group records and preserves heritage finds from across the island and helps islanders recover lost items such as jewellery, free of charge. They are the official contact point for metal detecting enquiries on gov.gg and Guernsey Museums, and have received coverage from BBC News and the Guernsey Press. —
