Story

Mid-15th century Guernsey farmhouse and barn, originally a two-storey longhouse with open hall, parlour, sleeping quarters, and rear tourelle staircase. After neighbouring farmhouse built in 1840, repurposed as stables and cow shed. Bequeathed to the National Trust of Guernsey in 1993 by Miss Ruth Le Huray. Carefully restored by CCD Architects to reinstate appearance circa 1800-1840, with new oak-framed roof with water reed thatch, rebuilt fireplaces, furze oven, wattle-and-daub chimney hood, and reconstructed tourelle staircase. Les Caches Farm is a collection of fine Guernsey farmhouses and outbuildings dating from the 15th Century to mid-19th Century, nestled amongst pastures in the peaceful hamlet of Les Villets. This important site at Les Villets came into the Trust’s care in 1993, through the bequest of Miss Ruth Le Huray. The main farmhouse building lends itself to all types of gatherings such as wedding blessings, musical performances, photographic shoots, and exhibitions. —
