Story

Weather records began in 1777 by Elisha Dobree. Formalized by States of Guernsey in 1902. Purpose-built observatory at Lukis House opened 1921. Moved to Guernsey Airport in 1946 after WWII. Current location in Technical Block west of Airport Terminal since 1977. Part of worldwide network feeding data to UK Met Office HQ at Exeter.

Guernsey Met Office is the States of Guernsey's meteorological service, based at Guernsey Airport in Forest. Staffed 24/7, it provides aviation weather observations and forecasts (METARs and TAFs) for Guernsey and Alderney airports, and operates the only synoptic weather register in the Channel Islands. Weather records date to 1777. The office works in partnership with Jersey Met and feeds data into the UK Met Office's worldwide observing network. —
