Story
The States of Deliberation has been an independent legislature since at least the 13th century. The States' Greffier post was created to provide the Assembly with a dedicated parliamentary clerk, operating under powers delegated from the warrant of HM Greffier.
The Office of the States' Greffier is the parliamentary clerk's office of Guernsey's States of Deliberation, operating under powers delegated from the warrant of HM Greffier under the 1948 Reform (Guernsey) Law. The Greffier serves as Clerk to Parliament, Clerk and Registrar of the States of Deliberation, and Registrar of political parties. Core services include publishing the Billet and Order Paper, advising members on procedure, assisting with question and amendment drafting, recording resolutions, and coordinating States meetings. The office is based at the Royal Court House, St Peter Port. —
