Ben started Guernsey Seaweed in 2018-2019 making fertiliser from drift seaweed. Naomi launched The Seaweed Food Co in August 2020 with three seasonings. Sold over 20,000 tins of products.
The Seaweed Food Co. crafts small batch, seaweed-based products including culinary seasonings and foods, as well as bath and skincare items. All seaweeds are handpicked from the beaches of Guernsey. The business began in 2019 when Ben started collecting drift seaweed to dry and turn into fertiliser. In 2020, the first three food seasonings were launched under The Seaweed Food Co. branding. The company also offers seaweed foraging tours, providing an educational experience about the history and uses of seaweed in Guernsey. —
