Founded 1888 as Victoria Cottage Hospital in Candie Road; moved to Cambridge Park Road in 1891, then Amherst (former Girls Industrial Home) in 1898. Renamed Victoria Hospital in 1918; funds incorporated as Victoria Hospital Incorporated in 1936. Hospital operations placed in abeyance in 1940 during the German Occupation; in 1945 the committee decided not to reopen. Buildings sold to the States in 1946 for £10,932 and funds invested; investment income now distributed as medical grants. The private ward at Princess Elizabeth Hospital was named Victoria Wing in commemoration.
